I've been experiencing positive changes in my parenting, mental health, and children's wellbeing after participating in parenting peer-support workshops.

I started volunteering for Hakili at the beginning of the pandemic after losing my job. Through my volunteer work, I have been able to give back to the community, which helped me gain and use new skills which improved my mental health. With my newfound confidence and sharpen skills, I was able to obtain a new job. 

I started coming to parenting peer-support workshops, after my son started receiving complaints from teachers regarding his behaviour. I developed an increased awareness of parental roles and responsibilities, which helped me to related better to my son, and improve our family dynamic. As well, I signed my son up for Hakili's Yes We Code program and he created a stunning website about marine pollution designed with HTML code. After completing the 24-week program, teachers reported he had better social skills and had strongly improved his focus.
