Parenting Black Teens: Building Trust & Improving Communication

June 20 @ 11:00 am 1:30 pm UTC+0

Raising a teenager is never simple.

And raising Black teens in a western context often comes with added layers,
navigating identity, belonging, racism, and systemic realities, all while your child is still figuring out who they are.

If you’ve ever found yourself trying to make sense of these moments, this session is for you.

Parenting Black Teens: Building Trust & Improving Communication is a practical and interactive space designed for parents, caregivers, and community members who want to strengthen their connection with the young people in their lives.

Through guided conversations, real-life scenarios, and culturally grounded tools, you’ll explore ways to better support your teen, and leave with strategies you can apply in your everyday interactions.

What we’ll explore together:

– How to build trust and emotional safety
– Communication approaches that reduce tension and open dialogue
– Ways to support identity, confidence, and well-being
– Navigating difficult conversations (mental health, peer pressure, racism)
– Reflecting on how your own experiences shape your parenting
