Family Matters & Community Conversations

Strengthening Families. Building Resilience. Nurturing Future Generations.

Since 2018, Family Matters & Community Conversations has been our longest-running community programs, supporting parents, caregivers, children, youth, and families through meaningful conversations, practical resources, and community-driven learning opportunities.
Through workshops, discussions, and expert-led sessions, these events creates safe and welcoming spaces where families can explore the opportunities and challenges of raising children in an increasingly complex world. From child development and mental health to digital safety, racial identity, resilience, and parenting in the age of artificial intelligence, Family Matters equips families with the knowledge, confidence, and connections they need to thrive.
Family Matters was created to strengthen families by promoting positive parenting, lifelong learning, and community support.
We recognize that parenting does not happen in isolation. Families are influenced by culture, community, technology, education, economic realities, and social change. Our goal is to help families navigate these realities through accessible, engaging, and culturally responsive programming.
Our workshops bring together parents, caregivers, educators, health professionals, community leaders, and youth to exchange ideas, share experiences, and develop practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life.
This was a brilliant and engaging session. I enjoyed listening to people share their stories and experiences. I truly don't feel as alone as I thought I was. It truly takes a village, and I hope this is the first of many spaces for us to share, grow and unite

Voices From the Field

Firsthand accounts of impact from our global network.

My child has been registered for the coding classes with Hakili since November 2022. She has attended every single fall class, and I am so grateful for the team at Hakili for their dedication.

Coding is becoming increasingly competitive, and so many organizations are offering it at a high monthly fee. It’s such a pleasure to know that my child gets to benefit and become equally competitive without being locked out because of affordability.

Geneva

As an immigrant and fairly new to Canada, this program was extremely accessible and allowed my child to interact with other kids while boosting their skills. It was recommended to us at a time when we could not financially afford to pay for any other program for our kid and was truly one of the best gifts during our settling period.
